All wood products should be hand washed and dried. The heat and chemicals of a dishwasher are harmful to wood’s naturally porous texture. If your product begins to show signs of wear, its finish can be restored with any food safe oil and or wood conditioner. First, hand clean and dry the wood. Then, apply an oil/wood conditioner with your hands, soft cloth or paper towel. Once the oil/conditioner has soaked into the item, buff off any excess with a clean cloth. Having excess conditioner on a wood board will make it feel sticky or oily. Apply as if you are applying lotion to your skin, not too heavy not too light. You can’t overdue it, wipe away any excess after a few minutes.
